Dropping the F-Bombs, One at a Time – Part 3: Failure
Nobody likes to fail, and for many of us, just the thought of messing up, falling short, or missing the mark is enough to keep us from even trying. But as cliché as is sounds—failure isn’t final, and it’s not your identity.
You may have been raised or conditioned to see failure as the worst thing that can happen, but in reality, fear of failure is more dangerous than failure itself. It keeps us stuck (just like fear and frustration), afraid to take risks, hesitant to step into what God has for us. So today, we’re exposing failure for what it really is and learning how to drop this F-bomb and move forward with faith.
What’s the Problem with Failure?
Failure isn’t the problem—it’s how we see it and respond to it that holds us back. Here’s how failure messes with us:
It paralyzes us – Fear of failure stops us from taking action.
It distorts our identity – We start believing that failing = we are failures.
It makes us afraid of what people think – We avoid stepping out because we don’t want to be judged.
It makes us play small – Instead of taking bold steps, we shrink back to avoid mistakes.
It makes us forget that God uses everything – Even our failures can be stepping stones when we surrender them to Him.
What Can You Do About it Right Now?
Flip the Script – Instead of seeing failure as an ending, see it as training. Every setback is a setup for what’s next.
Separate Your Worth from Your Work – Your mistakes don’t define you. Your worth is not measured by your success—it’s measured by who God says you are.
Give Yourself Permission to Try Again – Failure isn’t the opposite of success, it’s part of it. Take what you’ve learned, make adjustments, and move forward with confidence.
Stand On God’s Word!
Romans 8:28 (NIV) – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.
Philippians 1:6 (NLT) – “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished.”
Pray About It
“God, I give You every fear, every mistake, and every doubt I have about failure. Remind me that my worth isn’t in what I do, but in who You say I am. Help me trust You, learn from my missteps, and keep moving forward in faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen”
