6 Ways to stay connected to God’s Love When Life IS Heavy
Hey S.E.M.P.LY Family,
I hope you all are doing well. Oh and first things first, congrats to the Eagles on your Super Bowl win! Yes, Philly girl here and proud of it!
Now, If you caught the last blog post, we talked about how in these times, we need to be reminded that nothing—absolutely nothing—can separate us from God’s love. But let’s be real, just knowing that truth doesn’t always make it easy to feel it in the middle of life’s chaos.
So, what do we do when we don’t feel connected to God’s love? How do we remind ourselves of His presence when everything around us feels uncertain, overwhelming, or just plain tough?
1. Remember That Feelings Are Not Facts
There will be days when you don’t feel close to God. Maybe stress, fear, or even distractions get in the way. But here’s the truth: God’s love doesn’t change just because your emotions do. He is constant, steady, and unchanging—even when we feel otherwise.
2. Root yourself in God’s Word
When doubt creeps in, go back to the source—God’s Word. The Bible is full of reminders of His deep, unshakable love for you. Here are a few verses to hold onto:
Jeremiah 31:3 (ESV) – "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. "
Isaiah 41:10 (MSG) – "Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.."
3. Talk to God—Even When You Don’t Feel Like It
Prayer isn’t about saying the perfect words—it’s about staying connected. Be honest with God. Tell Him whatever you’re struggling with. He already knows, and He wants to hear from you.
Need an example? “Lord, I know Your love is real, but right now, I don’t feel it. Help me to trust in Your truth even when my emotions and everything I see around me tell me otherwise.”
4. Surround Yourself with Reminders of His Love
Sometimes, we just need a visual or physical reminder that God is near.
Play worship music that speaks to His faithfulness.
Write down your favorite scriptures and post them where you’ll see them.
Keep a gratitude journal to focus on where you’ve seen His love in action.
5. Lean on Community
God designed us for connection. Surround yourself with people who will encourage you, pray with you, and speak life into you when you’re struggling to do it for yourself.
6. Keep Moving Forward in Faith
Even when you don’t feel God’s love, choose to trust it anyway. Keep seeking Him, keep showing up in prayer, and keep holding onto His promises. His love is not based on how we feel—it’s based on who He is.
Nope, life won’t always be easy, and what we’re experiencing now is a whole mess but with God’s love, you’ll always have the strength, peace, and courage to face whatever comes your way.
Much Love,
Natalie
